Summary Three ceremonies from three different religions illustrate the cycle of life. The programme displays the actuality of the ceremonies and interviews with the participants. In Birth, Arun and Anita invite us into their home for the naming ceremony of their new daughter. In the Hindu religion this involves consulting the Mahraj at the temple to find out what the first letter of the name should be. In Marriage, Rabbi Charing officiates at the wedding of Gaynor and Stephen. Amongst other things he explains the Bedekan ceremony, when the groom checks under the veil to make sure he is marrying the right person. And in Death, Reverend Tom Maidment conducts a funeral service for Kathleen, an elderly lady who led a full and happy life. Her loved ones sorrow is tempered by the joy of remembering her life
