Summary
The DSM-5® is going to change the way we view, diagnose and treat mental illness -- you will no longer view mental illness in terms of symptoms on a checklist. The new DSM is intended to reshape our concept of mental illness to better fit within the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10). This will require a new paradigm and new diagnostic skills. This seminar recording will help prepare you to go beyond describing what an illness looks like and focus on the foundations of these disorders. You will gain a working knowledge of the basic neuroscience of mental disorders as well as an understanding of the psychodynamics of these disorders. Refine your treatment planning by identifying aspects of each individual client that are more likely to respond to therapy and which aspects may be more grounded in biology. Move beyond just the diagnostic criteria and to the root causes of mental disorders and the most effective way of addressing these conditions. Special attention will be given to a completely new way of viewing personality disorders and will address overlapping symptoms, severity and impairment
