Summary |
This case study provides an account of one practical aspect of a 3-year-long learning analytics project, allowing readers to see how a researcher spread the idea of using learner data to improve the scholarship of teaching and learning in the course of research. The case sheds light on the particular challenges in using existing data stored in learning management systems (the network platform that enables learning activities in the online environment; Blackboard, Moodle, Desire2Learn, and Canvas are the top four leading service providers of learning management systems) to reveal useful suggestions to online course instructors. The research action leads to a more general consensus at Boise State University that the study of online learning can be possible through collaborative efforts among subject matter experts, instructional designers, and educational researchers |
