Summary "My father and uncle were crying and begging them to spare me. No one responded," says Mukhtaran Mai, a Pakistani village woman who, in 2002, was publicly gang raped to atone for a crime her brother allegedly committed. Before an estimated 200 witnesses, several Mastoi tribe men dragged Mukhtaran Mai to a room while she begged for mercy. No one intervened. Written and directed by New York based filmmaker Mohammed Ali Naqvi, Shame illustrates how an uneducated woman raised an outcry that became an international cause with far-reaching consequences. (From the UK, in Urdu and English, English subtitles) (Documentary) M CC WS -- SBS website
