Summary |
"In December 1937, Japanese troops entered Nanking. On the road to the southern Chinese capital and in the city itself, massacres, rapes and thefts were committed by the Japanese troops day after day for several months. The rape of Nanking is described by Chinese victims, Japanese ex-soldiers and rare Western witnesses, as well as shots of the places today and archive footage. To explain the event, the film provides historical, political and cultural backgrounds. Several ex-Japanese soldiers answer the interviews as frail elderly men to give an insight into what made the ordinary young men perpetrators of the atrocity. (From France, in English, Japanese, and Mandarin, English subtitles) (Documentary)" -- website |
