In this case, Flash Inc., A semiconductor company, is preparing its annual report and its chief financial officer (CFO) wants to understand its current performance vs. this year's plan and prior years. Flash manufactures several products using several inputs. While Flash does all its production in the United States, it sells its products all over the world.
