This compelling new six-part series follows the lives of eight young hopefuls who share the lifelong dream of becoming a vet. For the 5th year students coming to the end of a gruelling course, the time has come for them to be unleashed onto the busy wards of Murdoch University's state-of-art teaching hospital.The 5th year students are rapidly approaching the end of their course. As they prepare for life in the real world they are working more and more on their own. For the first time they are holding 'consults' with clients solo.As if that wasn't pressure-filled enough, they have to nominate two consults to be recorded for analysis by an outside specialist. Whilst this fills most students with dread, 42-year-old American student Berit who has gained a bit of a maverick reputation, can't wait to get started. But her enthusiasm quickly turns to shock and then despair as, in a true 'YouTube' moment, her consult which starts as a routine chat with a family about their sick dog rapidly descends into the consult from hell - the likes of which have never been seen in the history of the university. In a hilarious scene, never has the phrase 'never work with animals or children' ever played out so vividly!When you're working more and more on your own there's no tougher place to be than in the emergency department where 5th year Megan is on shift. Her first patient Rusty the dog is in a critical condition after having been savaged by another dog. With multiple injuries Megan is going to need all her skills if she's going to stand any chance of helping to save Rusty's life.
