Penny the kelpie has been rushed into the emergency department with internal bleeding. Chris, Megan and the rest of the staff will have to act fast if they are to stand any chance of saving Penny's life. Fast tracked into surgery, they make the worst possible discovery. Not only does Penny have a tumour but it's ruptured into several pieces - meaning the surgery has suddenly become a lot more complicated. As Penny's anxious owners wait in reception for news, the surgery is progressing well, but then suddenly Penny's vital signs start to crash. Can Megan, Chris and the rest of the surgery team save Penny? It's not only the 5th year students who are enduring a late night. It's the eve of the 4th years' first of seven gruelling exams in just two weeks. Pete and Jade are both working late into the night trying to cram. Already exhausted, Pete looks like he's at death's door, regularly studying for 18 hours a day, whilst Jade admits the only time she steps away from her books is to go to the toilet. But they have little choice; the 4th year has both the highest dropout and failure rates. After their exams both Jade and Pete appear shell-shocked, left wondering if all their hard work has been enough.
