Summary "Since the publication of the first edition of Rehabilitation of the Severely Brain-Injured Adult, the field of brain-injury rehabilitation has seen rapid change. There has been a growing research interest in all aspects of rehabilitation and management of brain-injured adults with an accompanying increase in knowledge of the problems faced by brain-injured adults. This new knowledge is fully reflected in the extensive revisions which have been made for this edition." "Full consideration is given to the use of rational pharmacological approaches, in their own right and also as part of an integrated behavioural/cognitive behavioural approach, to maximize opportunities for learning and skills training. The authors argue that a consistent behavioural/cognitive behavioural approach can help patients to optimize their functional ability despite cognitive deficits, and they also show that behaviour disorders need not stand in the way of useful functional skills training."--BOOK JACKET
