This dataset is designed for the purpose of teaching the identification and analysis of European Union (EU) legislative files as an illustrative support for quantitative findings. Secondary to this, the approach of using interview responses to add a further layer of analysis will be demonstrated. The data are provided by Dr. Karl Murphy from Dublin City University and are drawn from publicly available summaries and records of EU legislative file negotiations and from interviews with EU practitioners. The example will focus qualitatively on illustrating an EU legislative file's "budgetary implication" effect in both determining the use of "trilogues" in informal EU law-making and in the redaction of legislative file negotiation documents. This will follow on from the point of identification provided by the predictors in the logistic regression models. The dataset files are accompanied by a Teaching Guide and a Student Guide
