Summary The book examines foreign investment in developing countries both from a theoretical perspective and country specific perspective. It covers the strategies needed to maximize the benefits that draw from the inward investment flow and looks at foreign investment as a vehicle for international economic integration. Special attention is given to the impact of foreign investment on the economic development of the host countries in Asia and other continents. It covers foreign investment in the third and fourth largest economies of the world - the Peoples Republic of China and India - in addition to Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries. The distinctive feature of the book is the study of the implications of the economic rise of the Peoples Republic of China for the ASEAN and India and other countries in Asia in terms of trade and foreign direct investment flows. It also covers the WTO issues in relation to foreign investment
