Summary |
A collection of 173 rare and rediscovered original films by Méliès, produced in 1896-1913. Melies, a successful magician, began investigating film as a medium of trickery in 1896. Through inventive optical effects and elaborate sets and props, he discovered how to make objects and people appear, disappear and grow larger and smaller. While best known for his fantastic tales, Melies also produced witty advertising films and re-stagings of actual events |
