Summary |
Spanning a critical historical time from 1929 to 1940, three young women search for love in this high-spirited adaptation of Nancy Mitford's novel. For Fanny it's a simple matter of marrying a decent man, and from her safe domestic haven, she watches as Linda chases love throughout Europe, while the beautiful but icy Polly contracts a marriage that shocks society and breaks her mother's heart. At a time when turmoil sweeps across Europe, the young women leave behind their careless and innocent youth as they pursue love and happiness through places far beyond their expectations. Linda realises that Christian is more interested in the cause than her, so she leaves and meets Fabrice, the Duc de Sauveterre on her journey home. They have a year of bliss before the Germans march into Paris, and Linda is forced to return to London |
