Summary |
A young boy is asleep in his boat, dreaming of finding buried treasure. As he dreams the program explores some different water transport options and looks at the basic science of how they work. Water vehicles include Aboriginal bark canoes, sailing ships and modern watercraft such as cargo ships and sophisticated racing vessels.Monty queries the basic science behind sails and jet engines and investigates the impact a vessel's shape and composition has on its ability to float and travel through water. Simple experiemtns conducted by children also help to demonstrate these concepts. The program concludes with the child making a startling discovery that leaves the viewer pondering - was it a dream or not?This three-part series explores the science and technology behind transport. Information is delivered through a lively, friendly rapport between a narrator and Monty, an inquisitive animated character. Each program features animations and simple experiments to help explain how a wide range of transport machines work. Children will see a range of vehicles and be encouraged to think about the choices they can make in the transport they use in their day-to-day lives.For the Juniors, for students aged 6-8 years, aims to stimulate children's curiosity and imagination, widen their horizons and encourage them to explore their environment, present enjoyable experiences which relate broadly to the lives and interests of the children and raise issues.Each series is arranged in groups of programs relating to a particular theme |
