Summary |
Actress Una Stubbs never met her paternal grandparents even though, as she discovers, they didn't die until she was in her 20s. In her quest to find out more, Una uncovers a story of illegitimacy and poverty. As the face of Rowntree's Dairy Box in the 1950s, Una is amazed to discover that her grandfather worked for the chocolate manufacturer 30 years earlier. When increasing mechanization put her grandfather out of the job, the family relocated to Welwyn Garden City. In another extraordinary coincidence, Una's maternal great- grandfather was Sir Ebenezer Howard, founder of the Garden City movement and the creator of Welwyn Garden City.
