River basin commissions and other institutions for transboundary water cooperation : capacity for water cooperation in Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia
Countries are engaging in a growing number of multilateral and bilateral agreements to regulate the use and protection of transboundary waters. To ensure their effective implementation, governments establish joint bodies for transboundary water cooperation. This publication analyses the organization and activities of joint bodies in the UNECE region and globally, and presents recommendations and best practices for establishing new and improving existing joint bodies with a focus on EECCA countries
