Summary |
"There are places that we don't want to know anything about; places that we would rather pretend don't exist at all. One such place is a dumpsite. From the point of view of human beings, a dump is a stinking desert of trash. But it's a desert that teams with life. The astounding profusion of insects, reptiles, birds and mammals, all intertwined in an existential life-death relationship imparts a strangely alluring dream-like quality to the dump. The images of lovely birds and insects are replaced with the massive dumping of city garbage. Rats and mice are running around, the garbage rots, the swamp next to it hosts water snakes. Newborn mice are fed by their mothers, young birds gurgle in their nest, and the day is passing. (From Latvia, in English) (Documentary) -- SBS website |
