Summary |
The Ebola virus. No-one knows exactly where it comes from but one thing is certain - it's one of the most virulent infections known to science. The current Ebola epidemic in West Africa is the worst outbreak of the fatal disease in history, with the World Health Organisation reporting more than 5,800 cases, including more than 3,000 deaths in the current outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also assumes that the actual number of cases is 2.5 times higher than what is officially known and have also predicted 1.4-million infections in those countries by January 20 if no action is taken to curb the epidemic in West Africa. In this documentary premiere, meet the scientists and doctors from all around the world looking for the cure and hear first-hand accounts of what it's actually like to catch - and survive - this terrible disease.
