Summary |
Car Bomb is a two part narrative journey that follows ex-CIA agent Robert Baer as he tells the story of the definitive weapon of our age. Beginning with the 1983 Beirut embassy bombing, an event which changed Robert Baer's life forever and led to a strategic withdrawal of US forces from Lebanon, the film charts the progress of the ultimate terrorist device. Robert will explain why it is the car bomb and not the tactical nuclear weapon which has come to shape the world we live in. Extraordinarily the history of the car bomb begins in America in 1920 just 600 feet from Ground Zero and returns again and again to the United States at key points in this deadly weapon's evolution. Using the expertise and contacts built up through 25 years in the CIA, Baer will interview members of the Zionist Stern Gang, the Cosa Nostra, student radicals, the IRA, and Hezbollah. Robert will discover how and why these bombers turned the automobile into the perfect lethal weapon.
