Series SAGE business cases
Summary Founded in 1978, the Peter Lamy Center on Drug Therapy and Aging was among the first centers focused on pharmacotherapy, education, and research housed in a college of pharmacy. Its early years provide insight into the connection between the pharmaceutical industry and colleges of pharmacy, and the possibility of advancing mission-centered leadership in partnership with for-profit business. As the Lamy Center became well-established, it went on to face challenges in transitioning leadership and funding. The 2008 global financial crisis tested the Center's financial sustainability, and the possibility of revenue diversification in academic pharmacy settings. Students will be asked to synthesize the impact of leadership and strategy on the Lamy Center's longevity and to consider how an academic center for excellence can continue to foster innovation in the face of future uncertainty
