In condemnation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine in late February 2022, many nations swiftly responded with economic sanctions in the hope that the strain imposed on the Russian economy would help bring about the end of the conflict. Many major brands have taken a stance of their own, shutting down operations or closing stores in Russian territory. But the effects of such sanctions have so far been difficult to measure, and in the meantime everyday Russian citizens are facing diminishing economic stability.
