Gender transition refers to an individual's decision to live as a new gender that is different from the one associated with their assigned sex at birth. This is represented in the psychological literature primarily through reports on physical and psychological changes during gender transition. However, very little research exists into how these changes are experienced by those transitioning gender, specifically those in 'mid' or 'older' life. This case study briefly outlines the process of designing and carrying out a study into this research area, by examining a research project into the experience of gender transition in adulthood
