Summary IN FOCUS: ETHIOPIA AUTO INDUSTRY. Ethiopia is a country of about 97 million people and just 84,000 registered vehicles on the roads, according to the Ethiopian Transport Authority. While most of those cars are imported foreign brands, such as Toyota and Nissan, a number of cars are being assembled right in Ethiopia. Lifan Group, a private Chinese enterprise, is one company assembling cars locally and minimizing the impact of Ethiopia's import taxes. The company says it's able to sell the new cars at a lower cost. FACE TIME: JIM BENINTENDE, CEO, FORD MIDDLE EAST AND AFRICA. Ford Motor Company is a multinational automaker, with headquarters near Detroit, Michigan. In Africa, Ford's presence has traditionally been strongest in South Africa. Zain Asher sits down with Jim Benintende, the CEO of Ford's operations in the Middle East and Africa, to discuss how he plans to increase Ford's penetration on the continent and to create more jobs in Africa's auto industry
