Summary |
C.F. Koo (1917-2005), founder of the Koos Group in Taiwan and second generation of a powerful family business, married Cecilia Yen in 1949. Cecilia came from another prominent family with links to other prestigious families and individuals in Taiwan and Mainland China. The marriage, which took place when C.F. Koo was facing a crisis, benefited C.F. Koo and his family business tremendously. The Koo family faced another series of crises in the 2000s and the Koos Group seemed to have lost its past glory. Would another marriage alliance help? This is a rare case that provides insight into the role of marriage alliances in the growth and preservation of family businesses, and lets students consider the pros and cons as well as future of marriage alliances |
