Summary The Warnarrwarnarr-Barranyi (Borroloola no. 2) land claim no. 30 is a traditional land claim, made pursuant to s. 50 of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976. The application was received in the office of the Aboriginal Land Commission on 25 January 1979. It was lodged by the Northern Land Council on behalf of a number of named Aboriginal persons. The claim originally related to a number of islands and islets in the Sir Edward Pellew Group (a group of islands in the Gulf of Carpentaria), and to the proposed Robinson River Reserve. By notice of amendment received by the then Aboriginal Land Commissioner on 16 November 1983, the Robinson River land claim no. 65 was amended to incorporate the area of land described in claim number 30 as the proposed Robinson River Reserve. Claim no. 30 thereafter remained as a claim to certain islands and islets in the Sir Edward Pellew Group. On the basis of the findings and islets in this report it is recommended that the whole of the land claimed in this claim be granted to a land trust for the benefit of Aboriginal people entitled by Aboriginal traditions to the use or occupation of the land, whether or not the traditional entitlement is qualified as to place, time, circumstance, purpose or permission.rai240
