Summary |
The Leshan Giant Buddha is the largest stone sculpture of Buddha in the world. Looking solemn & stately, the Buddha is 71 metres high. The records show that the carving of the Leshan Dafo began in AD713 but even after 1200 years, the stature is fully intact. One major factor in its longevity is its ancient but ingenious internal hidden water drainage system. However, even the elaborate ancient drainage system is no match for the perils of modern pollution |
