Summary |
After the death of their parents, twin sisters Anna and Lotte Bamberg are crudely separated at the age of six. In the years following their separation, the girls desperately try to get in touch but their adoptive parents keep the devastated girls from writing to each other. When they are reunited after 10 years, political changes and bitter divisions in wartime Europe have created a seemingly unbridgeable gap between them. Amidst the turbulent backdrop of World War II, Lotte and Anna begin to understand the enormous impact each has on the other, but it remains uncertain whether they can rebuild the sisterly bond they've always craved |
