Summary |
"In the early 1990s, photojournalist Colin McPherson saw salmon nets drying along the shore, and embarked on a project that would take him to the heart of one of Scotland's fast disappearing communities - the salmon net fishermen. Since then, he has spent many days - and nights - photographing them at work. The result to date is over 180 stunning colour and black-and-white images. Shot on the panoramic beaches of north-east Scotland around St Cyrus, this documentary film weaves together the story of the demise of the salmon netting industry (crumbling under the twin pressures of decreasing fish numbers, and the presence of cheap farm-bred salmon on the market) with that of Colin's creative journey" --website |
