Summary This collection contains materials associated with the Friends of the Belmont Common. Belmont Common, Geelong, is adjacent to the Barwon River and is used for active and passive recreation; a number of local community groups are based there. An extensive new development associated with rowing was proposed in the 1990s and a pressure group, known as the Friends of the Belmont Common, was formed from existing recreational and environmental groups to oppose inappropriate development and use.
