Description 1 online resource (1 video file (23 min.))
Summary For 40 years, the Indonesian government has had harsh colonial policy against the people of West Papua (formerly Irian Jaya). Whereas East Timor became a cause to celebrate, West Papua has been passed over. The United Nations is not interested. Yet the forgotten people fight on for their cultural and political identity. To demand their rights, Pauans have created OPM (Freedom Movement of Western Papua) split into two branches. One is headed by rebel leader Bernard Mawen. For 10 years, Damien Faure has worked as a filmmaker on this issue. The film centers on a refugee camp in the middle of the Indonesian jungle, in search of General Bernard Mawen
