Summary The rebirth of democracy in Nigeria was adjudged to have accompanied a wide variety of terrorist groups experienced in the country in recent times. Among these groups, this study shows that Boko Haram has grown to become the most serious national, transnational, regional, and international organization of concern. The study utilized data extracted from a pool of 40 in-depth interviews employed by a doctoral research inquiry to conceptualize democratic leadership as a breeding ground for youth recruitment into Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria. The qualitative approach, from an empirical viewpoint, focuses on the in-depth account of the participants' perceptions of democratic leadership as a breeding ground for youth recruitment into Boko Haram terrorism, as it relates to the various factors that precipitated and sustain the insurgency in the Nigerian-affected communities. The choice of the purposive sampling technique was rigorous enough to obtain balanced information from the stakeholders that are knowledgeable about the socioeconomic context of Boko Haram terrorism, and this helped greatly in answering the research questions that focused on the democratic leadership and youth recruitment into terrorism in Nigeria. This research also emphasized the ethical considerations of the study in ensuring that the principles of confidentiality, anonymity, and informed consent were upheld throughout the study. Undoubtedly, this study would create a well-rounded disciplinary ground for students of tertiary institutions, particularly those who may choose to employ a qualitative in-depth interview methodological approach in their future research inquiries
