Summary |
This program looks at how rabbits were first introduced to make Australia more like England. Unfortunately they flourished and became a pest for the farmer and have had a devastating effect on many of our native species. However, there were others whose livelihoood depended on the rabbit and whole industries thrived because of this furry little creature - rabbiters, meat processors, wire manufacturers etc. The introduction of myxomatosis and calici virus have produced the results for farmers, but there are others who have been negatively affected. This series explores a range of topics and issues in Australia's history for a middle primary audience. Where possible, programs explore changes in attitudes of Australians over time and the reasons for these changes. Programs use documentary and archival footage and stills, light-hearted animated interpretations of events and extracts from primary sources |
