Description 1 online resource (9 minutes)
Summary Cooper drinks alcohol four or five times a week. He drinks beer because of the cost but prefers whiskey. The amount he drinks depends on external stressors. He will consume an average of three beers while he is working at home and another four or five after he's finished work. This amount of consumption has become an almost daily occurrence. He describes experiencing hangovers the next day but does not blackout nor has he tried to cut back on his drinking. Sometimes in the morning Cooper will have a beer and water to help with his hangovers. The only time Cooper felt guilty in regards to his drinking was when an outing with friends led to his spending a night in the drunk tank. Cooper has never had treatment for his alcohol use. In the past, Cooper's girlfriend forced him to attend AA, but Cooper did not like the program: the social aspect, sharing one's problems, having a sponsor, and the religious overtones. Cooper pretended that he went longer to appease his girlfriend. After that relationship ended, Cooper began to primarily drink at home in order to avoid problems such as fights in bars
