"The 'National health security act 2007' (NHS act) is complemented by the 'National health security regulations 2008' (NHS regulations) and the 'Security sensitive biological agent' (SSBA) standards (these standards). All three documents must be consulted for a full picture of requirements for the handling and transport of security sensitive biological agents (SSBAs) and suspected SSBAs. Compliance with the NHS act, NHS regulations and these standards is mandatory. The objective of these standards is to set requirements for the secure handling, storage, disposal and transport of known and suspected SSBAs." ; "The emphasis of these standards is on biosecurity and not biosafety. The latter should be addressed by complying with the Occupational health and safety acts of the Commonwealth, States and Territories and by following AS/NZS 2243.3:2002 'Safety in laboratories, part 3: microbiological aspects and containment facilities."--1.1 Scope, p. 2
