Summary |
"These gay, amusing stories are quite unlike any others you may know. Most of them are about Mrs Pepperpot a salty old character with good sharp wits which never deserted her, even when she shrank to about a thousandth part of her original size. She just woke one morning to find herself the size of her own kitchen pepperpot and how she was ever to get out of bed was a problem!she had a husband to think of too, the house to clean, and a week's wash in soak not to mention the cat and dog to whom she must now look painfully like a bird or mouse. However, she was not one to take fright, or to give in easily; and what she could not manage herself, she contrived to make others do for her. There her sharp wits came in. She did not remain pepperpot size for ever after that morning, but could never be certain, day or night, when it would happen again. She had no warning of it. All in a moment she found herself pepperpot size, and some time later snap! she was herself again. A delightfully good-humoured imagination invented these adventures and escapes, and laughter bubbles through them constantly. They are intended primarily for the delight of young listeners, from three, four, or five (depending on the reading habits of the home), but they will also entertain the parents and grandparents who read them aloud. Also published: Mrs Pepperpot to the Rescue, Mrs Pepperpot in the Magic Wood, Mrs Pepperpot's Outing and Mrs Pepperpot's Year." -- Puffin Books. |
