Patients with cancer are at risk for numerous pathologies both as a result of their disease process as well as the treatments they receive. Some of them are classified as medical emergencies as they truly can be life threatening. This series discusses two of the most common: tumor lysis syndrome and pleural effusion. For each of these conditions, there is a focus on patient assessment, recognition of symptoms, and initiation of immediate treatments. This information is presented by nurses and physicians who are experts in oncology who are affiliated with major cancer centers across the United States |
