Summary |
"Each of MRY's Berlin projects (including urban design, master planning, housing, commercial and institutional buildings) has marked an important moment in the history of the city. Tegel Harbor proclaimed humane values at the periphery of the West just before the barriers fell. Berlinerstrasse was intended to reclaim a site that symbolized German civilization and natural beauty before it was brutalized. The three commercial projects reflected the optimistic assumptions of the newly reunited city. Kirchsteigfeld and Karow Nord brought an improved standard of living to east Germany, welcoming it back into the fold after 60 years of oppression. Tiergarten Dreicke, with its three embassies and CDU HQ, is a major addition to Berlin as the capital of a reunited Germany."--BOOK JACKET |
