Many cultures believe that human life began in the forest, and for that reason, a deep connection to the plants and animals is always treasured by those who live amongst the trees. Hidden from view and hard to access, these ruins are providing us with a deeper understanding of the Mayan culture. At the same time, direct descendants of the Mayans still live off the land. Even in this day and age, the people of the forest continue to practice their timeworn customs and primitive yet sensible farming methods
