Summary |
"This account of my research will begin with an examination of my understandings of the importance of affect (and therefore disaffection) in learning or not learning mathematics. From here, I will review literature and schools of thought on affect in mathematics education, and develop my argument and position that motivation and emotion can be seen as the central foundations of the affect space. This position leads to a brief description of the theory and methods that underlie the research, before presenting the results of the research. These results, in turn, are presented, in effect, in two halves: a series of case studies, and a more rounded consideration of the various and diverse aspects of the experience of disaffection."--Page viii |
