Summary |
How has the indigenous press responded to the treatment of indigenous issues in the mainstream press? Dr Shelley Fisher-Fishkin, Director of American Studies at Stanford, takes us through the history of the Black Press in the USA. Closer to home, we look at PINA - The Pacific Islands News Association; serving the Pacific Islands News Media - and how they've trained their own people to report the stories which matter to them. This program also discusses Indigenous media in Australia, from the first magazine publication in the 1930s to the present day NIMS - the National Indigenous News Service, which broadcasts out of Brisbane |
