Summary |
Charles Dickens was the greatest writer of his age. He was also a great stage performer. He wrote many Christmas stories, which he performed to friends and acquaintances. He memorised each piece, acting all of the characters within it, imitating their voices and gestures. A Christmas Dickens evokes the intimate atmosphere of a Victorian drawing room after-dinner entertainment. Evoking the intimate atmosphere of a Victorian drawing room after-dinner entertainment, actor Simon Callow re-creates the author's performance style in five mesmerising pieces. The audience, too, are in period costume |
