Summary Two towers, old and decrepit and part of Britain's heritage, have been bought by separate owners out to save them and turn them into unique family homes. One, the Martello Tower, is in Kent, part of a circular fortress built in the early 1800s to protect Britain from invasion by the Napoleonic French. The tower has been forgotten for 130 years and sits in an overgrown moat. It is one of 43 remaining and listed as Scheduled Ancient Monuments, meaning there are strict planning and development restrictions. But the owner, Sarah McCombie, wants to turn it into a two bedroom dwelling and create a modern rooftop terrace. She faces a tough challenge which architect George Clarke tries to help navigate. The other, Caldwell Tower in Scotland, is a 15th century iconic landmark of the East Renfrewshire area, and owner Barrie Taylor also must surmount formidable restrictions before making it a holiday home for his family.PRODUCTION DETAILSExecutive Producer: Jo McGrath; Series Producer: Isabelle Gunner for Channel 4
