Primarily set in Liverpool, in the northwest of England, this film explores the relationship between two gay men who are involved in a touring production of a theater play about the relationship between two gay men, one of whom has contracted AIDS. When one of the two subjects of the documentary himself contracts AIDS and subsequently dies, the story of the play takes on a deeper meaning, provoking a series of reflections about friendship, mortality, and the relationship between life and art
