Summary "Sentenced To Marriage - Three young women, Tamara, Michelle and Rachel, are each trapped in a religious marriage. They have been trying to get a divorce for years but to no avail. Their pain and suffering is embedded in the law of Israel, a democratic country of the 21st century. The rabbinical courts, that have full authority, say they need the husband's consent to release them from their marriages. They disregard claims of domestic violence, finding excuses to justify the husband's behaviour. They side with the men, even when they have left home, live with other women and have other children by them. The rabbis base their decisions on ancient Biblical laws that state that a man can have as many children as he likes by as many women as he likes, but a woman has to be bound to only one man and can't be free until he releases her. Reut is one of a group of female orhtodox lawyers. She is doing her best to assist the three women but feels helpless and is discouraged by the laws of her religion and by the injustice of the rabbinical legal system. (From France, in Hebrew, English subtitles)"--SBS website
