Our bodies are the perfect breeding ground for pathogenic invaders. Some of these microorganisms can make people sick, some critically ill, and some are so virulent they can even kill their host. The human body responds with the organs and specialized cells of the immune system to defend itself and try to return to a state of good health. This second program in the series on the immune system will describe this defense process against the most common pathogens: bacteria and viruses
