This text is focused on two carved ivory slabs preserved in the Cathedral Treasury in Milan and known as the „Diptych of five parts". Analysing written sources and the jewellery technique used (cloisonné), it was possible to situate the Diptych in the context of Ravennate art production and to date it more accurately. It relates to the reign of one of the last on the Western Empire's emperors, Majorian (457-461), and to the pontificate of bishop Neon (450-473).
