Summary
Working from the perspectives of family history, genealogy and gender-specificity, the study examines family structures and generational relationships in the Middle High German Nibelungenlied. In addition, from a diachronic perspective the study uses a textual concept of generation to analyse the intertextual relationships between the medieval works which are thematically linked by the discussion of the Nibelungenlied and/or Kriemhild
