Summary *Coarse Language and Violence*Anatomy is a multi-award winning series of documentaries which explore the ways in which artists and performers deal with the subject of sex and the human body. The third series consists of three unique documentaries linked thematically yet individual within themselves. Each week a different filmmaker tells a story that is variously funny, playful, confronting and in the end, illuminative in the role of sexuality and life in the creative process.Hair is a story about women and men, about brave shifts in identity, and the difficult beauty of honesty. For a long time the woman, and the man, within Paul Capsis have been defined by his long hair.In the recent past however, the cabaret star, singer, and actor has moved through a deep change, most clearly expressed by the choice to cut off his hair. Only a year and half since the chop, people find it hard to comprehend that his fabulous long hair has gone, including his own mother. This portrait explores the story of Capsis, his hair and his changing identity during his role in All About My Mother for the Melbourne Theatre Company, paralleling his own relationship with his mother as she takes part in the preparation of her son's role.Hair is a story about the brave shifts of gender and identity. It is the story of a man who comes to terms with his natural femininity and truly accepts himself as both a man and woman.PRODUCTION DETAILS:Produced by: Matchbox Pictures in association with ABC TV, Film Victoria and Screen Australia.
