Summary |
Wayne Tonks was born to teach. In May 1990, police were called to Tonksʼ flat on Sydneyʼs North Shore. They found his body on the floor. He had been bashed, trussed then asphyxiated in a plastic bag. It was seven years before police began unlocking the secrets of Wayne Tonksʼ murder. Finally they arrested two young men, both aged just 16 at the time of the killing. Reporter Chris Masters unravels a story about murder, the lottery of justice, the homophobia that pervaded Sydney and the multiple tragedies that befell the victim, the perpetrators and their families. This compelling report features the first interview with the young man who is now serving a sentence for the murder of Wayne Tonks. |
