Summary |
The story of Dusko Popov, the Serbian double agent who inspired Ian Fleming to create James Bond. Dusko was from a wealthy Serbian family and had studied in Germany before the war. He was recruited as a German agent by a close university friend, but not being a supporter of the Nazis, he also offered his services to Britain. For the remainder of the war, he worked as a double-agent feeding the Germans misinformation created by the British. His cover as a playboy saw him partying and womanising between missions, a lifestyle he enjoyed. He famously warned the then head of the FBI Edgar J. Hoover of the attack on Pearl Harbour. For reasons that remain unexplained to this day, the Americans refused to heed his warning. (From France, in English, French and German, English subtitles) (Documentary) |
